Item not received - Evri delivered to wrong address

This hasn’t happened to me before, after well over 1000 eBay purchases during the past 22 years.

 

In short, I received a notification that Evri’s courier “Lawrence” had “securely” delivered my item. Except he didn’t. My wife was at home at the claimed delivery time. Nobody knocked. And the photo accompanying the delivery “confirmation” email shows a parcel on the floor outside a closed front door that isn’t ours.

 

My wife did walk up and down the road an hour after the claimed delivery time to see if she could identify the door or see our parcel. She couldn’t. The GPS information on Evri’s tracking indicates that the parcel was delivered to somewhere close to the correct address.

 

A day later, no neighbour has come to our house to say “here’s your parcel”. Of course if it was left outside someone’s closed front door it is possible that an opportunistic passer-by simply picked it up and walked away with it. 

 

I’m afraid I don’t have a great deal of time for Evri as I’ve found them to be unreliable too many times, but this is the first time that I’ve had them mis-deliver a parcel.

 

If others have had the same experience I’d appreciate knowing how this was resolved.

Evri/Hermes is generally used by foreign sellers usually based in china.  How you can deal with this is not something we can help you with because that courier service is not used in the U.S..  You have posted your issue on ebay's U.S. based site's community (ebay.com)  you should log in to your home site (ebay.co.uk) and post your issue on its Community.  I would title the topic " Evri/Hermes delivered package to the wrong address. Scam or not?  Copy and paste the info you wrote to the topic to save time.

You are apparently located in the UK, so their procedure may be somewhat different.

There is apparently tracking showing it has been delivered, but not to you.

You need to contact the carrier.  You ask for a letter on their letterhead stating that it was not delivered to your address.  At this point, we cannot differentiate between (1) the address on the package was not yours and (2) the address on the package was yours but the carrier messed up.  They won't tell you where it was delivered but they should acknowledge an error on someone's part.

Yes, I am in the UK. I think I might’ve inadvertently posted on an international/US eBay help page and I should probably look for the UK equivalent to raise my question.

 

Sadly in the UK Evri is notorious for being generally hopeless if things go wrong. In Britain, as the contract for shipping exists between seller/sender and courier, only the seller can realistically take up the matter with the courier.
