I'm in need of a senior ebay customer representative

I'm trying to buy an item from ebay seller.  His item is a Yamaha C-4 Pre-Amplifier Vintage and I'm not abvle to make the purchase.  He told me to contact a "Senior Ebay customer representative to fix this problem".  He says that this has happened to buyers of his before and ebay fixes this problem.

There's no such thing as Senior eBay representatives.

That seller is pulling your leg. Find another seller willing to do business with you.

I have never heard of a "Senior Ebay customer representative" nor believe there is any way to reach one other than finding an "Ordinary Ebay customer representative" who knows what one is, and is permitted to contact one with your case.

It is rare to have a problem like this fixed because in the battle of man vs bot, the bot usually wins.

This problem could be the fact that the seller has not properly provided international shipping options as part of his listing.

@syngoz1x2c3,

The seller listed that item on eBay.ca, and did not correctly set up the shipping options to the USA. He mentions this issue in the description, and suggests that it may have something to do with the price point (more than CA$1,000.00).

Also, in the listing he refers to an old thread about this problem on the eBay Canada community, and suggests:

"simply go to ebay.ca, login and buy the item, it should work, as I DO ship to USA and many other countries worldwide."

and also:

"after you click Buy It Now, please wait for me to get a shipping quote from UPS w/ the proper insured value, otherwise, the shipping cost could be off, from there, I'll send you an invoice w/ the accurate shipping amt. from UPS ground or FedEx ground, assuming shipping is within North America"

So you could try that.

Remember, he also says (and this is always true):

"Buyer outside Canada responsible for Custom Excise, Duty, Tax, Import Fees, Brokerage Fees, etc."

so you should expect high shipping costs, and brokerage fees, because he is not willing to send this by post office due to it being more than they will insure. UPS and FedEx always charge extra brokerage fees.

If you do buy it, ask him to make sure that he fills out the customs form completely, with the correct region of manufacture (Japan) because otherwise it is likely to be caught up in the tariffs that are being threatened for goods from Canada. I haven't heard anything about tariffs on goods from Japan, although China, Canada, Mexico and many countries in Europe are being planned or already in place.

This item is more than the $800 de minimis exemption, so it will be subject to duties, and customs fees if delivered to the USA, it's just hard to predict how much, with 25% to 50% additional tariffs being talked about.

@syngoz1x2c3,

Instead of wasting time with a seller who does not have his shipping cost set up properly. I would look for a U.S. based seller's item. Also because the item costs over $800 you will be charged Customs fees for the shipment. If the seller doesn't fill out the customs declaration properly, you may not get it or it could be delayed in shipping.

On the listing page there is an ad for a Yamaha MX600U & CX600U, Amp Power Amp for about half the price, and for my money it is a better buy. While vintage Yamaha equipment does have great sound, They also had a lot of trouble with soldering issues back in those days and you need the instructions to set them up properly.

From the sponsored listings on the listing page I would go with the Phillips AH5721 pre-amp, U.S. made, also from a Canadian seller, but one who has their shipping set up properly. Not to mention it falls below the $800 U.S. Customs fee requirement.   Click on the Shipping: See  details button on that listing.
