I purchase many items on Ebay but just resently sold about 5 items on Ebay. I just got my invoice from Ebay on the items I sold and was shocked on what you charge. 10 percent on the items I sold PLUS another charge on my shipping fees and then I have to pay the Pay Pal fees. All these fees will make me think twice before I ever list another item on Ebay and after talking to many of my friends I find I am not alone on this matter. I charge resonable prices for my items and sometimes pay more for shipping than what I have listed for shipping in the AD so that the buyer gets the item faster. Ten percent Ebay fees and Ebay shipping fees are just not fair.

Try being a business seller in here. You have to pay either per item to list or take out a shop subscription. Then your closing fees are between 8% and 12% & 10% of your shipping charge, we find our items do not appear in the search results unless we pay additional 'marketing' fees (which eBay seems to think should be around another 7%) ... and eBay are trying to add another 4% to that if you get complaints from buyers for any reason ...

some of us think ebay fees are fair.
You can always sell on a different site but beware some are more than what ebay charges but that is up to each seller to look into BEFORE using a site. Cannot beleive the amount of people that list items not knowing how much they are going to be charged. Wonder if the same people would sell their houses without knowing what the real estate commission would be?

No need to be shocked. The fees are available for you to read before you use the site

Any where/way you sell there will be costs to sale.Learn what the cost is before using that venue.Stores have rent/utilities,flea markets space rental,resale/consignment have fees etc

At the bottom of the listing form ... right above the Big Blue "List Item" button ... on every listing ... is a fee summary that shows any listing and upgrade fees, along with the statement that, along with any listing fees, you will be charged a Final Value Fee when the item sells (and a link to explain FVF fees).
"Free to List" does not equal "Free to Sell"

^^^ This
Did you expect it would be free? You pay for the convenience of being able to sell items that would otherwise be very difficult to sell. This comes at a cost.

I understand, it is a shock when you don't know what the fees are before you decide to sell. Many don't research ahead of time.
When you are listing, they show you the fees you may be charged right there. On an auction listing, that can't be figured ahead of time because you don't know what the item will sell for. But fixed price listings show you the fees upfront.
Hope this helps.

Yup, fees are a shocker if you are thinking this is like Craigslist, or a free local ad.
eBay presents your wares to the entire world. Everything can't be free.
Fees are quite reasonable considering what you get for your money.
I can not sell as much as I do on eBay by having a table set up in my yard/garage, or even at a flea market. I can do it on eBay with my shoes off, watching TV, or I can sell something when I am out fishing.

This isn’t how things work on eBay.com
business sellers pay the same fee as an individual seller and the fee is never more than 10% and they don’t pay for each listing. They get 50 free listings just like everyone else. Store subscribers pay less fees and get free listings (the number of free listings depends on the level of store you have).
