FedEx tracking scam resolution help

Good day all.

For the first time I was subjected to the Seller tracking number scam. Ebay first sided with the seller then after Appealing case sided with the buyer "Me" FedEx confirmated that this is very common and that signature required will not help if someone wants to scam you. They can only deal with if your address matches the destination. Ebay can try to fix it by mandating sellers use there shipping labels with QR codes or other ideas but scammers will do there best to scam customers.

Steps I used to resolve the issue:

( Step 1 ) Package not Delivered .

Call FedEx customer service give them the tracking number. Let them know that all you need is to verify it didn't go to your address and then kindly ask if the city and state match your given.

FedEx will tell you that only the account holder or the sender can verify the delivery address, but will confirm that it didn't go to your location

Use Fedex virtual assistance with tracking number and then use your address to verify delivery address. Do a screen shot to keep a copy for use later when notified address does not match.

Download a copy of delivery image off FedEx website after input tracking number on there site.

( Step 2 ) Send Messages

Send this to Seller and to Ebay after opening a dispute:

Wrong Fedex Tracking number was posted on ebay. Talked to Fedex customer service and they verified package not sent to my address.

FedEx delivery image does not match my location or front door.

Please log into Fedex account using account number and verify that wrong customer name and address for Tracking number was used.

Update Tracking number. Please locate package or send new package to address supplied by Ebay.

Supply Ebay with verification of new delivery time.

( Step 3) Ebay sides with Seller

Ebay will give the seller time to respond to the message. Seller will say they will verify and then post back the same Tracking number. Ebay will then side with Seller and tell you package was delivered and close case.

From Ebay:

This case is now closed

We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase. However, the seller provided tracking information that shows the item was delivered to your address.

( Step 4 )  Appeal Case

Its best to use a computer or tablet on Appealing you case. So you can upload images and copy / paste easily.

Login to your eBay account then use link below scroll to the bottom of page and click on blue buttom " See your closed case" Select case and package not delivered issue. Post below message and Attach images as described in lower notes.

Message to Ebay:

Thank you for your time. I never received the package at my address. Even Fedex said "Package was not sent to my address" and seller FedEx account would show it or sellers receipt.

1. Fedex customer service verified my Ebay delivery name and address do not match tracking number name and address.

2. Seller fedex account number used by Ebay would verify or a call to Fedex customer service with tracking number would show my Ebay shipping address was not used.

3. Image of Fedex virtual assistance verifies Ebay shipping address ( my home address ) does not match tracking numbers address given by seller on that tracking number.

 4. Images with gps location show my home address as posted on ebay.

5. One image shows Fedex delivery image and is not my front door as indicated by image of my front door and gps location.

6. Using Google maps verifies none of my neighbors front doors match fedex delivey location.

Attach to Appeal message:

Attach picture evidence from your cell phone with GPS location that shows your address. After taking picture. Reveal the gps location on the lower side of image. Do a screen shot to capture the address and image on your cell phone. Then upload with message.

Also upload picture from FedEx Delivery and Screen grab of FedEx virtual assistance page from earlier.

(  Step 5 ) Final verdict "Hopefully the same"

From Ebay:

Hi ,

After reviewing this case, we decided to refund you for this purchase. We did this because we determined that the item was stolen during delivery.

We're sorry you had a problem with this purchase.

Thank you for reading. This was a stressful holiday issue and hopefully it helps you resolve your issue.

Re: FedEx tracking scam resolution help

Stolen during delivery?

Why can't they just tell you the truth?

The seller was a thief and they refunded your money.

Have a great day.

Re: FedEx tracking scam resolution help

I didn't read your book but I do receive Fed Ex packages and never had one lost.

Fed Ex does ring your door bell. They don't throw your package on your porch like Amazon(or outside the lobby like "A" does in my building).

There are daily updates on delivery...out for delivery...delivered. ON your iPhone inbox in emails as well as on your computer. No excuse if you didn't know which date the item is arriving.

Fed Ex is pretty good about that. I can't believe I have great Fed Ex service all the time vs. other cities or farms or where people live who don't. Am I just living in a better city? Never had anything lost with UPS or the USPS as well.

Re: FedEx tracking scam resolution help

Good response,

I am a savvy tech person and was very confused by the delivery issue. With cameras in front of my house and the tracking number showing the delivery steps. The moment the FedEx image wasn't of my front porch I was stressed but figured it would be resolved easily. Was I wrong thinking that. This issue started December 14 2023 and is now only being resolved December 31 23. It was a challenge with the Seller sticking to the same Tracking number and saying it was sent to me. FedEx confirmating it was sent to a different location and there was nothing they can do and telling me to contact the Seller. With Ebay siding with Seller I thought all hope was lost and money was down the drain.

Hopefully my post helps others. Keep calm and do your best not to explode on anyone. Use facts and images in your case.

I used to brag about how Ebay was the greatest and now I don't think I will use it anymore know you can't even trust tracking numbers. So sad.

Re: FedEx tracking scam resolution help

@brhodges123,

Since most of the steps you posted involve getting info off of the FedEx web site, it will not be proof enough for ebay to overturn their decision on appeal.  That is because all of it can be faked one way or another.

What has worked for people is to follow the info I posted in the link below. Click on the Go to best answer button. If you have filed and lost an ebay appeal, there is still one more way you can get a refund.

What I wrote,  pretty much tells you step by step what to do. However, since you have some info from FedEx if it is on your phone or you can print it out, bring it with you,  that may help when you go to a FedEx store near you.
