I know Ebay has rules concerning listing fake and replica items. Very good policy. Why then when I browse in Jewelry, Watches and Accessories do I find at the bottom of each page under " Sponsered Links " links to sellers who apparently pay ebay to advertise their counterfeit Rolex watches ?? Apparently ebay policies only apply to sellers and not to ebay itself ! Very concerning when the platform one uses to sell genuine items works against honest sellers to support those who hustle cheap counterfeit items. I guess ebays ethics do not apply to them when there is money involved.

Sellers don't pay for, or even have a choice in, those sponsored links. Believe me when I say I wish they would all go away.
EBAY runs the ads you see in sellers' listings, not the sellers themselves.

I mean.....I get your point and don’t disagree. The thing is.....eBay is also in the business of selling as space to 3rd parties so of course eBay is going to put money before ethics.

Thanks for your input. I may be old fashioned, but I still hold that ethics in life and business should be expected of us all and not simply a choice made for convenience .

I get jen's point and don't see it as needing to be fixed. It could read "to put money before ethics and US law.

I believe eBay should do more about fake products. It is against the law to sell fake replicas, eBay is supporting this activity. I recently reported a seller for selling fake skin care products, never heard anything from ebay. My investment was only $50 but this is the same as stealing, selling me a worthless skin cream. Why didn't eBay stop this seller. Now I see I wasn't the only one she sold the fake products to. Wby is she still selling
Actually, I'm not sure that selling a replica of something is illegal. That is provided it is labeled as a replica and not a counterfeit passed off as the genuine article. There are many legitimate replicas of the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower and the Pyramids that are perfectly legal to buy and sell.
Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible for eBay to monitor all listings to be certain that every item description is accurate. Alas! Criminals take advantage of that.

Yep and ethics actually usually have a higher standard than law.
