Hi all,
I recently received an offer to buy an item I had in my watch list. I waited a little over a day to decide if I wanted the item, then a few hours ago I went ahead and made a counter-offer. When I look at my "Bids/Offers" page I see the counter-offer expires in ~8 hours. However, when I click View Offer Details, it takes me to the listing page with no option to change my offer. There's a green banner at the top that reads "You sent a counter-offer of US $X that expires in less than 44 hours."
So I'm wondering, which of the two applies here? Does the seller have ~44 hours or ~8 hours to respond? Also, just wondering, why do I not see any option to amend or retract my counter-offer?

Sending a counter offer to a seller who sent you a Special offer has a different time frame than the buyer instituted Best Offer system. You counter offer may be expiring in the 8 hour time frame, because special offers and I would guess any counter offers end within the 48 hour period of the special offer. The 8 hour time frame may also be there because the item's 30 day listing cycle will end in 8 hours voiding all offers or counter offers.

Thanks for your reply! As it turns out, the offer did not expire in 8 hours; the seller responded with a counter-offer almost two days later. I suppose it's just a quirk with how the system displays different types of offers. The item was not scheduled to end as in fact still listed because I declined the counter-offer.
