Accidentally bid more for an item than I intended, can I cancel a transaction?

Ive never reneged on a purchase in all the time that ive been on ebay. Can I cancel a transaction on an auction?

Actually, if you want to correct your Bid on the Auction you can Retract it and then place the correct bid.

If you no longer want to bid at all message the Seller and ask them to Cancel your bid(s) on the Auction.

If you've already won the auction all you can do is message the seller and ask to cancel. But the seller isn't obligated to do so. If they refuse you might have two options (depending on whether you've been enrolled in Autopay for auctions): 1) Pay (and this was automatic if you're in Autopay) then either return the item if the seller accepts returns or sell it yourself, or 2) Not pay and get a nonpayment strike. One strike won't hurt you; if you get two or more in 12 months you'll find you're blocked by many sellers.
