Ability to enter a counter offer when a seller sends a discounted offer

Recently, I have had a couple of instances where I received an email through Ebay where the seller has offered a discounted price since I showed interest in the item.  I like this feature.

I think you could improve it, if the buyer could enter a counter offer.  Currently, you can review the offer, but then only accept or decline.  Even opening the item new shows the newly offered price to you.

The only way to do it now, is to email the seller, make an offer, within the email and then they have to change the listing or re-send an offer.

Thoughts?

Last time I checked that ability was there.  It is up to the seller to turn that feature on or off.  Personally when I send offers I do not allow counter offers because I am already going to the lowest price I will accept.

This option already  exsists
It is the sellers choice if they want to allow a buyer to counteroffer.
Either your seller is not interested in taking lower then they have offered you already or they haven't noticed the feature

I wonder what ebay charges the seller if he/she used "make offer"  in listing.

No - ebay gives us the option to add Buy It Now - or Make an Offer, to every Auction style listing, for free - although not both.

As for the form with the Offer sent to buyers by sellers: those above me correctly stated, the seller needs to manually check the box if he / she would consider accepting a counter offer from the buyer. It depends on whether the price the seller sends you, the buyer, as an offer, is already the lowest the seller would be able to go - if that is the case, of course, the seller will NOT check that box.

Others have mentioned the check mark on the seller's option screen..

But there is another thing that dictates whether or not a buyer can counter offer.

When sending offers via the mobile app, there is no option for buyers to be able to make a counter offer. That checkmark only exists when using a browser on a regular computer.

I only use the checkmark if the listing is multi-quantity.

I send the offer for qty=1 and I use the comment box to say "I will accept a counter offer at this price if you want multiples of this Item. Just change the quantity on your counter offer."
