1997 Coachmen Catalina

Hello.  I was thinking about buying a 1997 Coachmen Catalina from a lady by the name of Margret Dunlap. Who is a state away and has been divorce with 2 kids said and I quote

"Now I'm here in Wichita, KS, back with my parents, after the divorce. My camper is already at the eBay here in Wichita along with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle the shipping, the payment, and the paper exchange. The vehicle is ready to be delivered to your place. You will have free shipping and 5 days to test-drive and inspect the camper before I receive any money. This way, I will have protection for my vehicle and you will have protection for your money.

If you are really interested in buying my camper, please reply with your full name, a delivery address and a phone #. I will forward this info to eBay and they will contact you with all the info on how to buy it."

Is this normal or a scam would love to know as I never bought anything from eBay before.

Such an old scam. eBay doesn't ship anything for anyone, or act as a middle-man in this kind of transaction.

Just stop all correspondence with this scammer.

Say no more, It's a SCAM!!!!!

Any time a seller adds things that have nothing to do with the transaction such as

" "Now I'm here in Wichita, KS, back with my parents, after the divorce" It's con job.

All that extra chatter is to distract you from thinking.

Please make a note of this fact:  eBay never ever had anything at all to do with the sale of anything on any other site except eBay.  Plus eBay gift cards are never ever an acceptable way to pay for a vehicle anywhere, even actually on eBay.

And what kind of a seller ships a presumably expensive item to a total stranger for a trial period?

You are looking at a scam attempt.  I used to go into a long explanation about this, but there have been so many messages like yours recently that I generally just post the above information.
