HI, I was wondering if anyone in our group lives close enough to me to have a get together about forming a button club? I am in North Mississippi about 5 miles from Memphis. Patti

forming a button club

Recently the President of the Calif. Button Society moved to Oregon where she missed her local button club and wanted to form one of her own. She went around to antique shops and any public bulletin boards she could find and put up flyers inviting people to come to her button club, she now has 15 members. More than my club which started in the 1940's! I understand she now has a small ad in the local paper stating where and when her club meets. Might want to pick a public place at first if you are inviting strangers out of the blue to attend a meeting. Buttton clubs usually meet once a month, do yourself a big favor, pick a weekend early evening and you should be able to get many more people than some of the older clubs which still meet during the week, making it impossible for use to get new members who work. Best of luck. Come back and let us know how your button club is doing.

Does anyone in the group live in northeast Tennessee? My husband would love it if I had a button buddy around here so he wouldn't have to look at all the latest treasures I've found on eBay. 🙂

Hi gals, I was invited to this group, so here I am!!! I live in the Rocky Mtns. of Colorado, in a small town called Bailey, about 52 miles southwest of Denver. I just thought I would put my "geographic" two cents in. 🙂 I had never heard of a button club. I've purchased and collected buttons...for my ebay projects and myself...for a year now. I must admit I have very little knowledge about buttons. My ebay id name gives me a lot of freedom in what I create. Jacqueline (call me Jc...it's much shorter!!! LOL)

Hi Jacqueline, There are several button clubs in the Denver area. In fact there is one that meets in Evergreen once a month, which is right in your area. I contact you directly through eBay, so I look forward to talking to you directly. Thanks - Linda at The Responder

lizzies465a: Sorry I don't find a state or even a local button club listd for all of Tennessee. If you contact me privately (click on my user name and send a note to me via the eBay system) I should be able to put you in touch with some collectors in Tennessee but it's not cool to post their name/address on a board here.

gooselady: There is a wonderful, few year old button society called the Western Regional Button Assn. (WRBA), they have a great show in Reno on an annual basis. The next one will be in 2006 but they don't have regular meetings. You can get a lot of information about clubs and societies in your state by joining the National Button Society, it's only $20 per year. In return you get 5 bulletins a year which is a very good button publication which advertises all the button shows they know of, you also get a membership directory that shows every member by state, all the state and local button societies and clubs. There is a Club in Reno and one in Sacramento, contact me by clicking my user name and sending me your e-mail address, for specific information so you can find out where and when they meet. Local clubs usually meet once a month.
