Any help with this "Rooster" Button...

Ok, I posted a thread on the needlework and textiles board...and forgot I was a member here also, so I think I will see if anybody here can help. I have this coat that has truly beautiful buttons. I am thinking the coat is an early 20's car coat...but I think the buttons are possibly worth more than the coat. These buttons are a brass shank button with enammel around the "comb and tounge" of the rooster. Any help? Thanks in Advance. Aundrea

Nice button...if size large (1 1/4 or over)..I would estimate the value at $15 to $25 Peg

I wouldn't call this button enameled, it appears to be cold painted, meaning the surface is not colored by fired on glass (which is enameling) but just painted. There is fired on paint which will rarely wear as is noted on your button image. Very nice button. I agree with Peg on the value. Roosters are a very popular subject on buttons. -Carol C-

Well it has been a while since I have been here, but I thought I would let you know that I just recently sold all 3 buttons and I think I got 49.00 for all 3 together. Hey, no skin off my back. They were on a coat that I purchased to resell, but in evaluating the coat, I opted not to resell it due to damage. Took the buttons off and viola...most likely obtained more from the buttons than I would have for the coat with the buttons. Aundrea
