The latest news on the Postal Strike! Who Hoo!

Canada Post to Resume Operations Monday

2011/06/26

Canada Post has initiated the process to resume operations following the passage of back to work legislation (Bill C-6, An Act to provide for the resumption and continuation of postal services). In accordance with the Act, employees will begin to report to work for their regularly scheduled shifts on Monday June 27 and on Tuesday June 28.

Canadian consumers and businesses can expect to start receiving mail on Tuesday, June 28.

Post offices that were closed will start to reopen on Tuesday and resume regular operations.

All mailboxes will be unsealed starting on Monday and ready to receive mail as soon as possible.

We regret the impact of the work disruption on our customers. We will move as quickly as possible to process and deliver the mail.

With unprocessed mail in the system and accumulated mail received from other countries that has not yet entered our system, it will take some time to stabilize our operations and to return to our normal delivery standards. Any mail in the system at the time of the work disruption has been secured for processing and delivery.

Canada Post will be working with large volume mailers within 24 hours after the passage of legislation to support an orderly and effective induction process. Mail pickup from commercial customers will resume on Tuesday June 28.

We thank Canadians for the patience they have shown throughout this labour disruption and are asking for continued patience as we restore our network to normal delivery standards.

Re: June 2011 Chat..Sit and Stay Awhile

Lana, the cover-ups are so cute! Glad to hear the postal strike is ending, I don't know what we would do without ours.

Matursuksema, so sorry to hear that aobut your hubby. I'm dealing with mom who is having multiple illnesses and diseases. Go while you can, my mom has slowed down tremendously, keeps wanting to go places but she can't handle it. I know the frustration, your mind is still going like you are 40 but in reality the body is 64!

Jude hope you can feel better soon, I have to battle sinus during this time of the year.

Not sleeping myself either. On my part it's worry I think.

Re: June 2011 Chat..Sit and Stay Awhile

Just got home a bit ago, had to take Dad to the Doc today. He has cellulitis in his leg ( I had the diagnosis right)  did not ever think I was going to be able to convince him that using a piece of wood to elevate it on was  NOT a  good idea  ( a pressure sore in addition to cellulitis would mean no leg for an almost 92 year old)..thankfully he was so busy showing off the pillow he made to put on a stool to prop his leg when sitting he forgot to ask me ewhat I paid for the wedge for his bed.. his favorite word is parsimonious... and he lives it.. if he know I paid almost $60 for that he would have beendigging in his wood pile again.. sometimes his dementia works in my favor...LOL.. it isnot advnced enough that he cannot be alone but still enough I have had to take over a lot of things.

Re: June 2011 Chat..Sit and Stay Awhile

Good Morning, it has been really hot and humid here so it just sucks the energy out of me. I went to Strasbourg yesterday and stopped at several different stores and just crashed when I got home after putting it all away. Got some groceries, cotton yarn on sale, rubber hose washers, went to the bank, took plastic bottles to Sarcan, filled the van with gas ($70.00) and it still had a 1/4 tank and got a slushy, horrible tasting. Tasted like tang. Went to the *Every Little thing* Store and got Colette a birthday gift.

Nothing planned for Canada Day today, maybe go out and see the fireworks at the lake tonight. Most here go to the beachs or parks for this weekend or have BBQ and party.

Elise sorry to here that, at least it is a bacteria infection and antibiotics should clear it up.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Re: June 2011 Chat..Sit and Stay Awhile

Well this will teach me to stay away so looong!  This will take a bit to get used to!  So glad to hear that the postal strike is over, maybe Brenda will get her goodies!  I hope they survived ok.

I have been in a poopie mood and not on the computer much, so I hope everyone is doing well.

You all have a great extended weekend!

Re: June 2011 Chat..Sit and Stay Awhile

Ok, still am NOT a fan of this new board...much more difficult to read for some reason. Maybe the technical aspects of the old design was lacking, but the practical side of this update is seriously lacking!

I hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend!!!

Elise...you are looking fabulous!! 🙂

Re: June 2011 Chat..Sit and Stay Awhile

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th.

I finally feel like I have some good news on the Zoe front.  She is completely off the Depakine and on Lyrica and Keppra for the last 2 weeks and the trembling in her hands has stopped for the most part.  She is finally able to hold a fork or a glass to feed herself after more than three months of having to be fed like an infant.  And even better is that she has only had one major seizure in the last month and we think that it was brought on by stress.  She's had some minor ones but the neuro doc says not to worry about those.  Now everyone, KNOCK ON WOOD, so that we don't jinx everything!  Now, if she would only gain some weight!

There really is light at the end of the tunnel.

I thank you all for your prayers and understanding of my abscences.  Hopefully things will continue to improve and I'll be in here more often.
