Hi all. On September 25th I won an ebay car auction for a 1963 Buick Riviera and sent via paypal the seller's requested $100.00 deposit as well as a Cashier's Check on Sept. 25th for a $7,900.00 balance due via three day USPS Priority Mail..Ebay shows that I did win the car auction.
During my bidding on this Buick and prior to winning the car the contact person listed in the auction who was conducting all of this Buick's auction activities informed me, via emails ,that he was acting as his elderly mother's selling agent . His mother's name is shown on the car's title ( a photo of the title was sent to me ) as it registered owner.
His mother also states in emails that , her son, is authorized to represent her fully acting as her agent handling all aspects of the auction activities and sale in her stead.
Via phone ( the title owner's son noted above ) informed me that there was an offer from another bidder / would be buyer who was able to view the car in person at his mother's residence in Arizona. Unfortunately during that visit the would be buyer attempted to coerce his mother to sell the car to him !
His mother refused and I was told via phone and related emails that law enforcement personnel had to be called in to forcibly remove the unwanted would be buyer from his mother's residence .
During the auction proceedings and shortly for a period of time after the auction's closing my communications via email and phone were promptly answered by the title owner and her son. Her son also arranged / introduced me to a car transporting / shipping person who called me and offered to move the car for $750.00 from Arizona to my Michigan residence. When attempting to contact this would be car transporting person via telephoning my phone calls are promptly disconnected without any response.
Currently whenever I try to contact the title holder and / or her son neither of them will answer my phone calls nor will they respond to my emails.
Prior to my having tendered full payment but before my Cashier's Check was cleared by the title owner's bank for releasing my $7,900.00 payment to her ALL of my communications were promptly answered.
I'm 80 years old and would welcome any guidance advice as to what can / should I do to receive a refund of my $8,000.00 payment under ebay's buyers' protection program as neither the Buick Riviera's title holder or her son will answer any of my communications ?
