You may feel silly after you hear the answer ... (I think everyone does/did, including me) ... but your Username looks like everyone else's to everyone but you.
In other words ... everyone sees their own Username. That is so they know which bid is theirs. You can verify this by looking at an auction you bid on after signing out of your eBay account. Your name will also look something like a***z!
