Do you have to offer free returns now to become a top rated seller?

No, not to become top rated. You can see your top rated status on your feedback page.

Free returns are required in most categories to qualify for the TRS+ seal and discount. This became a requirement a number of years ago.

I am top rated but I don't get the seal or the discount. It used to be a 20% discount a few years back. That was worth it, but not sure if it is to me now. 10% percent is helpful, but I wonder if the exposure is truly a great deal more. Would love to hear your opinion on this.

I think you have to look at your usual rate of return. For me, the 10% was well worth it, since in craft supplies I did not have many returns anyway.  Do you get buyers claiming not as described so they can return things?  If so, you are already paying for the returns, plus taking a hit for the not as described on your service metrics.

The exposure is hard to judge anymore, but certainly the TRS+ seal in search stands out. Being TRS is a boost, I’m sure TRS+ is an additional boost.

It is not all or nothing, and it is not a permanent change.  I always think any tool is worth trying.  If you don’t like the results, you can change back, or you can be selective in the items you choose to offer free returns on.

Thank you for the intelligent input. I don't have a lot of returns at all stating not as described. I didn't know you could pick and choose what you can offer returns on. I guess I wouldn't get the discount of 10% or the seal most likely. I was thinking the same as you, maybe try it again for awhile.

Top Rated Plus is a designation on a LISTING in order to get a 10% discount on FVF.  That requires same day/1 day shipping plus free returns.
