I shipped a pair of speakers to Florida from Tennessee. There is clearly no return policy for the speakers in my listing and in my policy under shipping tab. So 30 days exactly after the sale the buyer wants to return them because he said there was a tweeter out on one of the speakers. There was no problems with them I test everything extensively and accept returns on some electronics I just have been getting a feeling lately that I am being scammed somehow.
So I accept the return because there is a hold of $157 in my account for them. Tried calling Ebay 3 times and no one seemed to care that I didnt have a return policy on this order. So I get them back damaged just like I knew would happen. They refunded the buyer charged me for the shipping back to me, and took the $157 out of my account. Now I have a product which I cannot sell which I paid for also.
I honestly believe Ebay has buyers on the payroll who are buying items and returning them so performance ratings will be high enough to charge the 6% they steal from me. I have 100% feedback. My performance is over 3% because of late shipping (scanning of the label by the shippers) which is not my fault, and returns on items that had no issues in the first place. When I try to expand the performance tab it doesnt work to see details of late shipping or returns!
Whos feels that everything sucks these days?
Is there nothing I can do about this transaction and

Sellers are responsible for getting the item to the buyer in listed condition. If that doesn't happen, buyers have eBay's Money Back Guarantee to protect them. Your buyer said that one of the speakers did not work properly when it arrived. That is a plausible story. Electronics that are jostled around during shipping can become damaged.

eBay isn't stealing anything from you. You agree to the eBay fee structure each time you list an item. If you follow the seller performance requirements, you won't take hits to your metrics. The extra fees you pay are not because you have returns, it's because of how you handle the returns.

You can avoid this problem by getting acceptance scans when you ship.

It's easier to prevent the problems from happening in the first place than to fix them after the fact, but I am sure you can make the necessary changes to improve your performance if you want to.
