I’m making a return and I have the shipping label on the box. Do I need to go to a proper post office or can I drop it in a dropbox?

If it has a barcode and a tracking number on it then yes. The label will clearly state which carrier it requires to be brought to.
Just one cavear is UPS SurePost, this particular one has both UPS & USPS barcodes on it. But it is to be dropped off at a UPS Store or access point.

@prall4-44. Just wanted to add for anyone reading this post in the future....
While you can drop in a mailbox I strongly recommend taking packages to the post office to make sure that they are scanned in. Packages that are dropped in mailboxes do on occasion go missing or are stolen. If that happens then you would not receive a refund. I helped a seller recently that lost a $700 item because it was just dropped off and not scanned in.
