retracting a bid made by mistake

I have tried to follow directions for retraction but to no avail.  I was bidding on a camera that I thought was the type I was seeking, but I bid on a different model that was within the list.  I bid hurriedly, then saw days later that it was apparently an EBay error. . .the camera was not the right model to be on the list.

Since you do not have a valid reason for retraction, contact the seller and request that they cancel your bid.

Be aware, though, that the seller is NOT obligated to cancel your bid.

In the future, be very careful when bidding so you bid on the correct item.
