how come buyers can lie about anything that pertains to a transaction so they can get the item for free and ebay always believes them that's not fair to honest sellers like me i can't afford to give away my products for free if this is allowed to happen by ebay it's only going to get way way more frequent and that really scares me what can i do talk to ebay or should i just stop selling on ebay i don't know you tell me thank you sincerely mike

You do not have to refund without receiving the item back. No one should get anything fro free.
If a buyer opens a not as described return, accept the return and have eBay issue a return label. Do not refund until returned.
If you sell with no returns, buyers are more likely to lie about the reason. Returns are part of selling online, there is really no way around it. What you need to do is find ways to minimize the returns. Good photos, good descriptions, good packaging and timely shipping all help make happy buyers.
Sellers who are very confident in their products and selling practices offer free returns. Then of the buyer returns an item in a different condition, you have the ability to reduce the refund.
