why do i have to add a rating of an item to give feedback? rating an item should be optional. i want to rate the seller, but haven't used the item yet, ebay won't let me leave positive feedback without rating the item.. the item is what i bought and has nothing to do with the seller.
for instance- i bought spark plugs- they got here in two days and they were packed well. i won't be installing them for months, so i have no idea how they should be rated. the seller did an excellent job, sold me exactly what they were selling and got the items delivered fast. the seller deserves positive feedback, but i cannot leave feedback without rating the sparkplugs.

When can I leave feedback?
You can leave feedback for up to 60 days from the date you received your item or from the expected delivery date, whichever comes first. If no expected delivery date is provided, you have up to 90 days from when you completed your purchase to leave feedback for the seller.
