Hello all. I have been on eBay since 1997 but I took a long break from selling. When I went back to it last week I was taken aback by all the changes, like purchasing a shipping label in order to confirm delivery. As a seller I like to quote exact postage to the bidders. I am planning to use USPS Ground Advantage shipping. Is there any way to calculate exact postage before the item is listed? Thanks

You select the carrier, class of service, weight and dimensions on the listing form.
On the Quick Listing Tool:
On the Business Tool:
ETA: On the latter click the 3 stacked periods to the right of "Buyer pays:" to change carrier/service. And don't blindly accept "eBay's recommendations". measure weight and decide what you want to use for yourself.

I'm saying how do you do it? If you buy a shipping label in advance you don't have the buyer's address. If you buy a shipping label after the auction closes you can't quote exact postage in advance. Help!

Hi @bidsky
-Buyers see the shipping cost based on the Calculated shipping setting that @stuff4divas mentions. YOU have to enter accurate shipping weights and box dimensions when you create EACH listing so your customer SEES what it will cost them to ship from YOUR location to THEIRS.
The green arrow in the pic below shows you what Buyers will see for shipping costs. Buyers don't ASK you what it costs, they SEE what it costs based on the information YOU supply when you create the listing for the item.

Dear Mr. Lincoln: Thanks for your reply. I get the part about entering weights and dimensions, but how does the listing software know what shipping method I am planning to use?

You select the shipping method when you create the listing, there is a menu of them to choose from, USPS, UPS, FedEx. Then for each carrier there are more choices to zero in on how you will ship. And also, in July of last year USPS dropped First Class and Parcel Select for PACKAGES and renamed them Ground Advantage and that comes with $ 100 of built-in insurance.
I do not use FedEx or UP, just USPS and most of my items are set for USPS Ground Advantage.

Thanks for the advice and dropping the all caps for the most part.
