how can i see the max bid on an item i won?

im trying to show a seller that i accidentially bid the wrong amount by about a factor of 10 on an item because i hit an extra number as i was trying to confirm my bid with just a couple seconds left. I cant seem to see on any area where it shows my max bid.

There isn't.   On an active listing there is  a display option in My eBay: Bids/Offers: Bidding (also under the bid box on the listing or bid history as part of your minimum bid amount--"Enter more than [hidden maximum]"--if it is equal to or more than 1 bid increment above the showing current bid).  It used to be available in a "Won" section of My eBay: Bidding but that got folded into the Purchase History where the option is not available.

ETA:  Never be in a hurry to bid.  If you are reacting to other bids in trying to bid at the end you are doing it wrong (always make sure you have bid your TRUE maximum in time before the end without regard to what anyone else appears to be bidding--since the underbidder's maximum will have already been taken into account if you are high bidder at the end it is not necessary to factor it into your bid amount).  If you are "sniping" (bidding in the last few seconds so that others can't react to YOUR bid) the confirm screen is your friend in that you can enter the amount a minute or so before, double check it is correct, and wait until your target time to click the confirm button, or use a snipe service (there are some free for limited use) to do the mechanics for you more reliably with an eBay API than you can with the user interface (note the countdown is not an accurate measure of how much time you have left to submit your bid so it is received in time).
