Hi everyone, I can't get an answer from ebay asst. Please tell me if ebay gives buyers discount shipping rates, does ebay still charge sellers a percentage of shipping? So in effect sellers loose more money on shipping?? If that's the case, seems we'd have to increase item price to make up for additional ebay fees or offer flat shipping.. Thanks

EBay has always given sellers the option to pass along the discount on shipping to buyers.
This change just reverses the previous default setting. The previous default setting charged buyers the full shipping amount, and we had to change the setting to pass the discount on to buyers.
Now the default setting passes the discount on to buyers, and we will have to opt out to change the setting to charge buyers the full amount.
If you use calculated shipping, you can choose to either:
Pass the discount on to buyers, or
Charge buyers the full retail rate and keep the difference for yourself.
If you do not want to start passing the discount on to buyers then I recommend you update your account settings here> https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf

Thanks.. good info. So does ebay still charge sellers a fee on shipping and sale amount? If buyer is charged, say, 6.50 discount shipping, seller pays 6.50 shipping + a percentage of that to ebay?

Ebays fees are applied to the buyers entire payment.

Thanks! Just want to make sure, because sometimes I lose $ by charging too low shipping and too low item price not accounting for eBay fees. Have a good day and happy selling!
