I believe that I've missed sales because customers don't want to wait the extra time, and I'm forced to ship through FedEx and add the price difference between them and USPS "Ground Advantage", which is $10 or more.
This message is mainly to vent, because this is some ongoing **bleep**, so eBay has some reason to not give us or buyers a choice to opt out of this nonsense.
I will continue to sell through eBay but I'll simply have to sell the shoes through other sites.

@chrislafave eBay charges the buyer $14.95 for Fed Ex shipping for domestic and you get a FREE shipping label.
US buyers pay a flat $14.95 eBay shipping fee when purchasing sneakers that qualify for Authenticity Guarantee ($30 if the buyer is located in Canada, $45 if the buyer is in Australia, or £8.95 for UK transactions). We'll then send sellers a pre-paid FedEx shipping label so they can ship the sneakers to the authentication facility, free of charge. If you have a buyer with a multi-quantity order for the same item and are unable to print enough shipping labels through your eBay account, please contact us so we can assist.

The authenticity guarantee process also protects you from false not as described returns since the item has to go back through authentication before being returned to you.
So since you are not paying for shipping you can lower your item price if you wish.

@chrislafave You can't opt out of the eBay Authenticity Guarantee program if your item qualifies per the site rules here> https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-tools/ebay-authenticity-guarantee?id=4644&st=1
I am not sure why you are paying more for shipping. I don't see any recent sold or active listings with the Authenticity check mark.
Please explain what the item is so I can advise you on the best way to set up your listings to not lose money on shipping.

"Size 15 - Nike LeBron Soldier 10 TB White". Up for a couple months while I progressively lowered the price more and more. I removed it when I realized the shipping was FedEx and I'd thought I'd made a mistake. I was able to use my regular USPS shipping when I removed the brand name and set it as "customized", letting me see the price difference. Of course it errored upon listing it without the brand and errored with all attempts to avoid this nonsense.

Oh okay. I don't know how I got mixed up. It was my understanding that the shoes went to the certifiers directly from ebay, but I believe what you're saying. So the customer has an option to send the shoes, free, for authentication if they want, or they can just wear them. This is the customer option I was hoping for.
Thank you for your help

Oops. I mean "directly from me" (to the certifier). And then to the customer.

@chrislafave. Yes this is correct. You use the free FedEx shipping label to send the shoes to the Authenticity center. Shoes are inspected and then eBay ships to the buyer.
