When an item sells via a promoted listing, when is the ad fee paid?

Does it come directly out of my payment, or do I need to pay it myself quarterly or what. How does it work? Thanks!

You will be charged monthly for listings and promotional fees.

I only promote at 3%, and when I make a sale on a promoted listing, the fee comes out at the same time as the FVF, when the buyer pays.
