Tracking starting with ESUS

Hi,

It seems that almost every item with tracking starting ESUS gets marked as delivered before it actually is. In some cases, the item NEVER shows up, and EBAY does not honor their refund policy for lost items because the item is marked "delivered."  The most recent case, the item was marked delivered, and then out for delivery the next day in the tracking. It never showed. I explained this to ebay, but they don't care. Does anyone know what service uses tracking starting ESUS? I want to request that sellers DO NOT use this service when shipping or I wont be bidding. I just received notification of delivery that was not delivered today for about the 100th time. Most showed up a day or two later, but I am tired of being on the hook when the item never shows because of it being marked that it was delivered. The mail is handed to me at my desk every day, there is no mistake about non delivery, and I have even had items marked "delivered" after 10 PM which is ridiculous. I can't deal with this fake tracking ESUS nonsense anymore, I can't purchase expensive cards and hold my breath- of all the packages that never made it, they were all with the ESUS tracking and I was screwed finding out what happened, or getting a refund.

Thank you.

Tracking starting with ESUS

Items with ESUS tracking are eBay Standard Envelope which is a lower cost shipping method designed specifically for trading cards, coins, stamps

You can ask your sellers to ship first class. This will cost a little bit more (about $4/card instead of $1)

On the listing it will show if the seller plans to use eBay Standard Envelope.

Tracking starting with ESUS

@chefjason

ESUS numbers are eBay's proprietary tracking numbers via EasyShip. The service is called "eBay Standard Envelope" and it is tracked for the price of a postage stamp. This service is only available for cards under $20 in value. You can get more detailed tracking from this site to help with your non-delivery claim:

https://parcelsapp.com/en/carriers/easyship

ESUS numbers can not be scanned by the local post office or carriers. Thus, there is never a true pickup or delivery scan. The tracking can only be scanned by the high speed scanning equipment at major USPS sorting hubs.  So, when the item reaches the last major hub nearest you, the system will estimate the delivery date and the item will enter the regular USPS mail stream for that last leg to you. This final trip may take hours or days, depending on how far away you are from that major hub, so that is how far off that "delivered" estimate can be.

You now have a pretty good idea how long it takes for items to get from that last hub to you, so you can count on that 2-day timeframe. If the items are late by a week, it is time to open a claim.

You can back up your claim with the "delivery" details provided by that tracking site.  The seller should accept the loss and then make a claim to eBay's insurer, which covers up $20 for the ESUS item.

While you can request an alternate tracked delivery method, like Ground Advantage for small packages (formerly called first class package), the shipping cost can be more like $5, instead of $1.
