Dear eBay:
In the short time that template coupons have been made available for sellers to use, I have had only good experiences with them. That is because the eligible buyers have all purchased via “Buy it Now” as required by the promotional template.
Yesterday, a valued repeat customer was disappointed to find that his coupon did not apply to a purchase he made through “Best Offer.”
In the “Limitations” section that you send to buyers, eBay includes the following language: “Coupon does not apply to auction-style listings, purchases made through Best Offer . . .” And the Title of the coupon is “Get 20% off the Buy It Now price on ANY item.”
Although that limiting language seems clear enough, it might seem to conflict with the template phrase “Extra 20% Off.” Can you modify this language to prevent good-faith “Best-Offer” buyers from being confused or disappointed? Best-Offer buyers may not read the above language and may instead become confused about whether the “extra 20% off” also applies only to qualifying “Buy it Now” purchases.
I realize that eBay designed the template language “extra 20%” - only to be used by Buy it Now purchases. In that context, the meaning of the discount is clear to the eligible purchaser. But, when an ineligible Best Offer purchaser does not read the yellow language above, he may nevertheless expect that multiple discounts should be applied. This falls on buyers to explain.
Thank you for your consideration, AntonioGiovanni
