Tax overcharge on invoicing system.

Today I noticed that I was charged my state's 9.1% on money that was not spent.  The seller's invoice discounted the amount for shipping because it was combined with other purchases.  However the discounted amount was still charged in the total tax on the invoice even though that money was not spent.

I'm not sure I'm following what you're describing...

If the payment you made included the discount (which is what it sounds like you are describing), then the sales tax would be charged according to that payment amount.

Can you provide the figures?
