Stolen Gloves

My son won state finals at a Florida soccer tournament. His goalkeeper gloves were stolen. I tracked them down on eBay to a seller called @daveyukon the original listing was 145400602913. My son messaged and at first he said he paid $2 from Amazon, son messaged again he basically told him finders keepers. Then the listing went down. What are my options?

File a police report for the theft, then explain that the item was for sale on eBay. The police have a process for contacting eBay about stolen merchandise.
