I kept the details somewhere but I guess ebay dumps the old sales from the record. Trying to find the transaction to get the buyer's shipping address. For the future, if I archive the transaction, will it stay in the archive for a year?

Thanks for the link on the payments account, whatever section I was previously searching wouldn't go back far enough, super helpful. I understand the ebay preorder policy, but it is extensively violated by me and thousands of others. At least in my case, all my preorder customers who waited over 30 days were kept fully up to date. This particular buyer, I had his name and shipping address saved in case of this confusion, but wanted to update him again and couldn't connect to the info. So not sure how to address the preorder long wait situation. I get it, as a buyer, one risks losing their money after a certain period. Anyhoo, I always deliver so I'm on the lower end of the bell curve as a violator, no one suffers in my transactions. Thanks

No, ended transactions are removed after 90 days. Pre-order items must be deliverable within 30 days of the buyer's purchase - you are chancing a big policy violation listing items delivered beyond the approved time period.
You should still be able to retrieve the address from the payment record. Go to your payment account, all transactions - https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/transactions - select custom dates and enter a range around when that order was placed. Click on the order # and you should see the buyer's address. (I tried it just now going back to Oct 2020 and can still see the address.)

Just remember that like speeding, just because everyone does it doesn't mean there isn't a cost if you get caught.
