Re: Shipping tips

@jobr_2554   I never have this happen because I use buyer pays> calculated shipping and enter the correct package weight and size on the listing when creating it.    This way the buyer is charged the correct shipping price to their location.

You can not ask the buyer for more shipping than stated on the listing.    You will have to consider this your eBay tuition fee.   I lost money on shipping my first item when I started selling 21 years ago then I bought a tape measure and scale and started using calculated shipping.

Re: Shipping tips

I don't know why this happened. I sold a lamp and the buyer was being charged $57 for shipping advantage. I checked the weight again, that was right, then the size of package. The price dropped to $17. I inquired about priority price it came to $18.57 so I added xtra insurance because Stained Glass is so fragile. The total came to about $22. So I refunded the buyer $25. Why did eBay charge so much?

Re: Shipping tips

What were the dimensions of the box?  USPS has a surcharge for packages larger than 1728 cubic inches. as well as a surcharge for a package longer than 22 inches.
