I listed an item and its giving me crazy numbers which make little sense. Did shipping rates go up so much that 14 lb 22x16x10 would be 70 to 80 dollars for USPS Ground Adv, FedEx home/ground or UPS ground? I called customer service and while my numbers r filled out are correctly it still give me prices that make little sense. The shipping calculator gives me prices that are more than 1/2 price. But i have been told those are my discounted prices. I know what I am doing so dont respond with that stuff. I am worried because these inflated numbers will hurt my sales. Every time I have called I get nowhere. This is insane. Check the item 116435187037. My system is clean and all of the usual fixes were tried. Ever since the shipping calculator was changed its been inaccurate but now it is worse.

For usps, the size of that package adds a surcharge of $18 for being over 2 cu ft, plus it is priced on dimensional weight since it is over 1 cu ft. Add onto that the holiday surcharge.
You are also charging retail rates, so unless you are paying at the po, one way to reduce the price to your buyers is to offer your discounted rates. Change your discount sharing here - https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf

Did you do as I requested and run the numbers?I am curious to see how they came out for you. Maybe the ask was lost in the length of the letter. I do want to discuss the other points Once you try that.. Thanks

That item is showing $166.35 shipping to me in Anaheim, CA 92802
I know that USPS has a surcharge for packages longer than 22 inches, but I didn't know there was also a surcharge for over 2 cubic feet. I only knew about over 1 cubic feet (1728 cubic inches).

I just calculated the cubic inches - 3520 - so I knew it was over 2 cu ft, and that it would be calculated as dimensional weight. I can tell you are using retail prices based on the amount to me ending in a 5.
I didn't try the shipping calculator before, since as you know, it shows you the eBay discounted rates, not the commercial rates that you are charging, so it will always show you less. Looking at the calculator today, it shows $43.76 (25.76 for 22LB, plus 18 for the 2cuft surcharge) to my zip, which agrees with the usps rate charts.
Have you tried editing your item to review the weight and dimensions you entered into the listing? It does seem high compared to what I see on the charts now. My calculation says the price should be based on 22LB, and it looks like it is priced at 55LB. I saw that you ended the item and resisted it - did you reenter all of the info from scratch?
Is it possible you entered an amount into the handling cost field?

I see you are quoting the usps charge of 43 for the ground Advantage. Now you are asking if I did something wrong? I didnt and I found a more motivated customer service person that agreed that it is way out of line. Convinced now? I thought from the last letter you would have realized that you are not much help in this. I was looking for someone to realize from the evidence that i offered that I was in need of help instead of the approach that you took. Sorry to say it why do you think word salad will help me.i dont want to talk about it. I want to fix it. Tghats how you can get helpful points .

You have yet to say if you checked your discount offering - as I said several times, the $43 is your discounted cost. You are not charging the discounted rate, you are charging the retail rate.
The shipping calculator is as accurate as your input.

It is all screwed up. I have been dealing with this for a long time. now. ever since they changed the format of the Shipping calculator. things are done for the sake oif change and there is no accountibility. there was nothing wrong with the old format. It was fine. Someone withoutredress to our level made a big error and now complaints are not getting through or worse they are getting ignored. Maybe that will cause me punishment but it is true. I was told that the extra costs were accounted for in the calculator when the cubic size issue first came out. Now it is so inflated that it presents wrong information in the listing that the buyer sees. I cant list anything now! it also affects the other carriers as you have discovered. I had someone buy a large item out west (i'm in NJ0 and they didnt have to pay any near the amount that the system shows. It must not be affecting everyone but 1 seller should be enough. I built 10 years in ebay but I may now have to leave. Im like a voice crying in the wilderness... I am so happy that you found that issue . It is not that much for the other carriers but it shows that. The old format was scrubbed from the system. Why? When formats chance there is usually a tryout period. Not with this. Something is off.

It is quoting me to send it across the street at 70 to77 retail among the 3 carriers. Where the post office is charging 43 on GA. so why is ebay retail 70 and usps ga 43? I was never arguing the discounted rate. You bought that up not me.
01-03-2025 07:19 AM
I was trying to explain that the calculator will not show you what your buyers see. Your original post compared your listing to the calculator.
The commercial discount is about 29% so 70 and 43 are comparable.

No thats not correct. Look up hubris. The item I reported to customer service was corrected so now it reads as it states on my revised listing for retail cost on ebay it is 43.10-91.40 (discounted to 35.29 btw.) however the ups ground is 242.23 and for fedex is 226. xx. So now what you said before is inaccurate. Again. Thanks for trying to use this to up your numbers instead of helping. Goodbye, have a rich existence

I stated earlier that the old way used to allow on to do that. and if I did not then I am now.
