How can I add insurance to the purchase? I want the buyer to pay for the insurance, but I can't find where to add it.

@trinketsandtreasures* You can include the insurance cost in the item price OR add it as a handling fee.
You will know you are using the Advanced Listing Tool when you see the option to add a short video in the photo section.
Then you need to select buyer pays> calculated shipping to have the handling fee option. Add the handling fee option to the listing tool by selecting See Pricing Options on the right of the pricing section and toggle it on.
To access Seller Hub:
1. Go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/landing
2. Click Start Using Seller Hub
3. Open your Draft here: https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/drafts
4. To create a new listing go to your active listings page:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active and click the blue Create listing button near the top, right-hand side of the page.

You can't charge the buyer for insurance since postal insurance is for the benefit of the seller.

True... but you are allowed to charge a handling fee or add the insurance cost to the item price. That's not a policy violation. You just can't tell the buyer that if they want the item insured they have to pay for it. I know it's kind of splitting hairs so to speak. 😉

So how do I add the insurance, even if I pay for it? After the item sells, does it show somewhere to add it?

Do I add the insurance after the item sells? I am trying to sell something for $1500 and don't want it just insured for $100

No. You can not charge the buyer more than stated on the listing.
You do pay for the insurance as an add on when you print the shipping label.
Keep in mind that insurance claims are denied for damage claims if the item is not packaged properly.
If you don't feel comfortable throwing the box at least 4 feet and having another heavy box land on it then you need more packing material.
