Shipping and Seller Rating

Hello and good morning! Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.  I was just rated as a "Top Seller", which is great!  Yahoo!  However, when I dug into the metrics, I was appalled to see my shipping time was marked in red with an exclamation mark.  So I dug in further and there were about 5 items that supposedly were delivered after the expected time via USPS First Class.  I am shocked because I go out of my way to make sure I ship the SAME day and at the very most the next day unless a Sunday falls in-between the purchase and ship date.  I don't understand, of all things, shipping should not be highlighted as a potential issue!  The rating was a 2.59 and I think it said 3.0 is the max before I get knocked out of the Top Seller status again.  What do I do?  I can't control the mail once I ship it! Thanks, you guys are great.

eBay posts this explanation below the Late shipment rate metric.

 

If you ship on time and upload validated tracking or your buyers tell us the shipment was on time when they leave feedback, you're all set.

 

Click Get full report to look at the details and verify that you did ship on time and you did upload tracking.

The best way to avoid the late shipping mark is to get an acceptance scan within your handling time.  The easiest way to do this is to print a SCAN form and have that scanned when you send your packages.

 

If you take them to your PO, ask if there is a place you can leave your packages with the SCAN form where it will get scanned. Before I used carrier pickup, my PO let me take them to the back where they have bulk mail drop off.

 

If you can, use carrier pickup - your carrier will scan the SCAN form and take your packages for you.

 

If you have an acceptance scan within your handling time, your shipment will not be marked late, no matter how slow it is to be delivered.

I did see that as well, thank you.  But how do you upload validated tracking?  I just print out the labels right form Ebay so it's not like a get a receipt or anything.

Oh this is interesting.  I can probably just leave packages in my mailbox for pickup.  I live in a more rural area and trying to get to an actual post office is more difficult so I drop them off next to work, which is a shipping center.  Meaning, I just drop them off with them and they do the rest.  I wonder if that is also adding more time.

When you print your labels through eBay, the tracking is automatically uploaded. But you also need a scan on the day you ship. Most post offices or carriers will not scan individual packages, but they will scan a scan form (which scans in all packages associated with the form at one time).

 

You can get a scan form when you print your labels in bulk.

 

How to print labels for multiple orders at once:

  1. From the Seller Hub Orders tab, check the boxes beside the orders you want to ship (two or more).
  2. Then, from the Shipping dropdown, select Print Shipping Labels or invoices.
  3. This will take you to the bulk shipping tool - opens in new window or tab where you can edit details of individual orders. For example, dispatch options, delivery addresses, shipping providers, and whether you want signature confirmation or ShipCover insurance.
  4. Select Review Purchase to see the total cost of the labels.
  5. Select Confirm and pay.
  6. Select Print Labels.

After you print your labels, you can print a receipt, and you can print the all-important scan form. Then as already advised, have your carrier scan the form at pickup, or your post office scan the form when you drop them off.

It should not - your carrier will scan the form when he picks up from your mailbox, then turn them in at the end of the day when he returns to the PO. 

 

The PO generally has a rule that the floor is cleared at the end of the day - meaning any mail pieces there at cutoff time leave that same day.
