What's the general thought on a buyer who is silent since winning the auction. I sold, against my better judgment, to someone who was brand new with no feedback and there has been nothing but crickets since the purchase which was on Friday. Ebay sent their obligatory invoice, then I sent an invoice with a message on Sunday. The message was respectful, just asked that if they changed their mind to please withdraw the offer. Anyway, no response. Today is Monday no response. I understand that I can cancel the sale on Wednesday and relist but I'm beyond irritated by this. How do others handle this situation? Just sit tight and wait till either they pay or the five days pass? Send another message? Thanks in advance.

No need to send messages. Ebay reminds the buyer they need to pay.
If it's been more than 4 calendar days since the listing ended, cancel the order by selecting the Cancel order button and choosing Buyer hasn't paid in the drop down menu.
All unpaid items are recorded on a buyer's account. Buyers who have excessive unpaid items, or canceled transactions, may have limits imposed, or lose their buying privileges.
Put the non-paying buyers on your Blocked Buyer List.

eBay already sends a reminder message, so there is no need to send another. There is also no way for a buyer to "withdraw an offer." The buyer bid on an auction (it's not an offer) and he committed to pay if he won.
Don't waste energy on being beyond irritated. It only hurts you. The buyer will pay or not. Just wait until the 5 days are up and cancel the transaction for non-payment.
Based on your recent sales, it looks like you only receive one bid for your auctions, so you might consider listing as Fixed Price with Immediate Payment Required instead of running auctions. You might sell more, more quickly, and won't have to deal with deadbeat buyers. Maybe try it out for a few listings to see if you like the results.
