Can someone please tell me how to turn off receiving offers just because I Iooked at something? I go to an item, I look at it, I'm not interested in buying it, but I look at it anyway. Perhaps someone sent me a link to say "hey check this out!". I check it out and I'm now getting offers from sellers for me to buy it simply because I looked at it. I can't stand this. It's invasive.... and everywhere I look says to:
1. Go to the "Account" dropdown menu in the top right corner of the eBay homepage.
2. Select "Account settings".
3. Scroll down to the "Communication preferences" section.
4. Under "Seller offers", toggle the switch to "Off".
5. Confirm the change.
I've tried following this path in the app, in a browser, on a PC, and on the phone. I can't find this option with these steps or any other steps and, to be honest, it's unacceptable. The OP who posted to get the response that gave the steps above felt like they were being stalked. They're right. The steps above don't work. That menu path does not exist. Can someone, anyone, please tell me the proper steps to turn off these messages? Thank you, in advance, to the member or members that are able to help.

If you are opening the listings you get offers from Sponsored list on a Listing page you have open.
Those sellers PAY extra to have their items listed that way, so ebay is not going to stop sending the offers.
That is why when you open one, you are likely to get an offer and you cannot stop them except by not clicking on sponsored listings.
On a search results page you may also see Sponsored just above an item titled and clicking on one will cause an offer to be sent.

Thanks for the replies. That is just about the most unacceptable policy I've ever heard. It feels like the literal definition of cyberstalking. Like when you go to a car lot because they have the new redesigned suv.... You know you're not buying it... But you wanted to see it..... And before you can get out of the car.... And sometimes you can't even put it in park... You're swarmed by pushy, creepy salespeople. You shouldn't be bombarded with crap because a seller sees you looked at something. I guess what will happen now is I'll just use an incognito tab, use eBay signed out, and if I see something I want to buy.. THEN I'll go to the app and buy it. Way to be creepy eBay ....
