Seller is asking me to cancel return. Getting hostile.

I bought an item that was not as described and was packaged incorrectly. The seller originally offered me shipping back, but I would not have bought the item in this condition. To avoid them having to pay shipping back, plus my return. 

they told me they would refund me 70% but that they can’t do anything on their end until I cancel the return. My concern is that I will not be able to reopen the return. Now they are getting hostile because it’s past the deadline and eBay says I have to ship item, and then sort it out with the seller for payment. 

If I cancel the order, am I able to resubmit the return like the seller is claiming?

Do not cancel or let the case expire.  Go back to the case and ask ebay to step in, if not return label or refund.  But if you received a return label you need to return it first to get your refund.
