I sold a vintage backgammon game with Bakelite checkers at the beginning of April and buyer just reached out on Friday with a return request due to one checker having a top that is concave when others apparently are flat. I'm not sure what it matters honestly however at the time they sent the request they also sent a message that they would keep it if I would be willing to offer a partial refund for the one checker so they can find and replace it. They also said it was a different color (yellow) than the others but it is not. I had many photos on the listing.
Anyway I messaged them on Friday and said I would refund if they want to send back and all pieces are accounted for etc. Or I would be willing to give a refund of $10 for the one checker. It was a game with 30 checkers and they got it on sale for 180.00. I said based on 180.00 / 30 = value of each checker would be $6 and that's saying there was no value to the actual game board and other items they received.
They have not responded to my message so I messaged again today. My question is how should I proceed? I am supposed to do something according to Ebay by May 1 .

I do not believe in partial refunds. For me, it is all or nothing.
I would tell them to return for a full refund. When you get it back, refund the buyer.

I am in agreement with you. The whole thing is kind of odd but I am worried that when I get my item back, if they decide to do that, it won't be my original checkers. Not sure why they messaged me and then aren't responding back.
