Received email from ebay with the wrong user name

I received an email from ebay to an account that is not associated to my ebay account, listing a user name that is not mine. I am trying to report this account to ebay. Has anyone run into this before?

If you received the message in the email account that is attached to your eBay account, but did not receive the message in your eBay Messages, it is probably a phishing email. You can forward bogus emails to spoof@ebay.com. I typically see these as "you have paid" with a link to click that will capture your login.

If the message was sent to a secondary email that you own that is not linked to your eBay account, it is possible that someone mistyped their email when creating an eBay account.  If that is the case, you can report the misused email to Trust & Safety on this help page:

Click "Contact us" at the bottom of the page and type "agent" into the chat. You may need to answer another question and again type "agent".
