If i want to sell few books, will the ebay people come and pick up the books at the doorstep from me and then deliver it to the buyer or should i do it by myself?

No.  As the seller you are responsible for packaging and shipping everything you sell.

There are NO "Ebay people" that pick up items.

If you want to sell items on Ebay, you will have ship the items to the buyers.
