When an item is listed as local pickup, the buyer is given a QR code to take to the seller as proof that they are the buyer, and that the seller can scan as proof that the item was taken away by the buyer. The seller must use the mobile app to scan or enter the 6 digit QR code. If the seller does not have eBay's Mobile App, then the QR code can not be used, and the old fashioned proof of pickup, like a signature on an invoice, would be used instead.
