I sold an item and listed the shipping method as USPS retail ground. When I went to buy the shipping label it was for Media Mail. The note re: the sale stated that the buyer had been charged $11.54 for shipping, however, the label that came up was Media Mail for $3.82. I refunded the label and took the item to the post office, which cost $14.55. This is the second item this has happened on. Anybody have any idea what the problem is? Item #203701446322.

USPS Retail Ground labels can only be purchased at the post office. If the shipping amount on the listing was incorrect, I would double check your weight, dimensions, and ship from Zip Code, as the ebay USPS calculator is very accurate.
What was the dimension, weight, and ship to Zip Code for this item?

Thanks. I just had a lengthy discussion with an ebay rep. I told her that I selected USPS ground from the drop down menu on the listing page. She said I should only select methods that will print a label. My question remains, if the shipping label is listed as an option in the drop down menu when listing the item, how am I supposed to know I can't use it? In this case the customer was charged the correct amount for postage but the label presented for me to buy for $3.52. If had just printed and used that label there could have been a problem. Package was 1 lb 8 oz, 11x8x4. Zip 45504

There are other options you can put on your listing that also isn't supported by ebay label printing. Certainly would be nice to indicate that, and to also remind you of it when you go to print a label, or at least not select something unrelated. Afraid ebay programmers and program managers don't actually use ebay, so unaware of the problem it creates.
After you get some experience, you'll remember how it works. Just always check the order details to make sure before you ship anything, especially since ebay is often changing things.
