Payout less than sold price

Why is my payout less than the item I sold? Example:  Jean shorts sold for $15.  Buyer paid tax.  Shipping cost was $9.00 but my cost when purchasing shipping label from eBay was 6.50.  Shows I saved $2.50 on shipping.  Yet I only earned $13.

Am missing something?  I did not promote this listing.

Ebay selling fee is based on the total amount paid by the buyer, which is price of item plus tax plus shipping charges.

Payout less than sold price

If buyer pays tax, and shipping; and shipping cost for buyer is $9 and mine is $6.50….why am I losing money on this? Doesn’t add up.

You can review the fees under your Payments->Transactions:

https://www.ebay.com/mes/transactionlist?sh=true

eBay charges a 13.25% fee plus .40 cents per transaction.  That fee is based on the cost of the entire total sale.  Selling price, tax, and shipping combined.
