PayPal is using the wrong money source

My account is clearly marked PayPal balance preferred but is bouncing my linked bank account...repeatedly!  Now I have to pay overdraft fees to my bank! THEN PayPal pulls payments from my balance!

It may be clear to you, but it may not be clear to PayPal or eBay.

If you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method.

Thank you for your response, I'm not sure I follow the first part of your answer.  At check out I am given the choice of my PayPal balance or my linked bank account.  I have chosen the PayPal balance eeach time and it still pulls from my bank.?...

Look closely at your choices again on the eBay checkout page. Which specific option are you choosing on eBay?

If you are not sent to your PayPal Wallet to choose the payment source when you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, then go to your eBay Wallet page and delete the PayPal entry that appears there.

Then you should be able to choose among various PayPal options when you check out on eBay and choose PayPal.

I'm struggling with this because I've been using ebay and PayPal for decades and only started to have this problem recently.

At one time I was using my Paypal balance to pay for my shipping labels, but I had to transfer money to my PP balance every so often.  It was a PITA to have to monitor that, so I switched to paying for the shipping labels from my pending payouts.  I thought it would be easier to see the total paid for shipping if I had it all in Paypal instead of seeing it in each payout.
