Need help canceling an order requested from buyer after they already paid but before I ship

Hello.  I was currently sent an offer for an item and accepted it from the buyer.

moments later buyer messaged me requesting me to cancel order due to mistakingly reading description of item (sports card). I don’t mind as I understand these things happen.

I am trying to cancel this order however in the help menu it states I need to receive a request from the buyer but my buyer gets an error that stating it’s too late and needs to work it out with me the buyer.

when I go to cancel on my end it’s making me pay in order to issue the refund which makes no sense to me. For example, item sold for 140, I was given 120 of which is 10 is in ad fees which is currently making my account -10 as the 120 is waiting for me to ship. So when I go to process cancel order and issue refund to buyer it’s making me deposit another 10 from my personal account to make up the ad fee? I’m not understanding why I am having to pay more money to handle this customers refund. Can someone please help me through this process as none of eBay’s help options are explaining this and not sure what ways to go about this as I do want to take care of this customer. Thank you

Hi @pnw_wallrus

You're not paying more - it comes out even in the end.

You refund the total amount, and eBay credits back the fee portion. If you're not already doing so, you should be carrying a balance in your bank account to cover such situations.
