Missing tracking number

I have sold and shipped an item that has not arrived. The tracking number does not appear on the Order page or  anywhere else on my site. Tracking info says “Shipped” but there is no delivery date. Buyer is asking for tracking info and I cannot provide it. Have no idea how to proceed.

@irish_red  Did you buy the label on eBay?   If so then the tracking number is automatically uploaded.

If you did not purchase the label using ebay shipping, then log onto that third party program, obtain the tracking number and upload it into the sold transaction.

I always purchase labels through eBay but this one did not automatically update.

Go to

Seller Hub > Orders > Shipping labels

Locate the tracking number for the order and copy it to the Sold order.

eBay deducted the shipping cost from my account. If buyer sends request for update, eBay gives seller 3 days to send tracking which I cannot do. Buyer has agreed to wait to hear from me. My only option is to just send her a refund?

@irish_red.  Sorry to say with no tracking number to prove delivery you must refund the buyer.   If you don't do so before the 3 days is up then ebay can force a refund from you and you get a defect and don't get your sellers fees back.

I figured it out. My small, local post office has a rolling bin to put packages in (it was mandatory during the pandemic) so of course, tracking didn’t update until bin was emptied and packages were scanned. This obviously didn’t happen (misplaced or stolen?) I will never make that mistake again. Will stand in line for sure. I have refunded the buyer. Just hoping that eBay takes care of the sales tax amount as it wasn’t an option on the refund. Thank so much for your help. I miss the days when you could call someone!🙂

I agree,  standing in line is worth the wait. 

  Our post office has a bin like that in the lobby during busy times.  I cringed at holiday time seeing how full it was and how easily a package could be stolen.
