I will be honest, I was not aware of a daily message restriction from eBay and I am pretty sure that I have sent and received well over that occasionally. Were you sending them to the same seller and not part of a transaction, meaning you were just asking questions?
ebay limits the number of messages you can send for new members. They do this in order to stop members from spamming other members. Read the description closely and look at all the photos in order to reduce the number of messages being sent.

I looked through the Help pages but could not find anything on this ... I'm sure it is recorded somewhere, I just couldn't find it.

@dr.vankmann5 Well, apparently as @disneyshopper mentioned new or newer accounts have message limits for the site to avoid spamming. The sad part of course is people like you with honest intentions suffer the consequences of those who abuse the system. Really sorry about that.

Ebay only allows sellers to send a certain amount of emails to member they don't have a current transaction with in a certain period of time. This rule is to help stop spamming. I don't know if there is a written policy on this or how many messages can be sent in a 24 hour period, but there are such limits.
Suffice it to say, that for your account the number is 5 per day ... as you buy things and process successful transaction without issues the limits will increase.
