Making a return/cancellation request

I recently bought a sweatshirt for my brother but his girlfriend bought him the same one so I made a return request for mine. The seller of the sweatshirt asked if I could make a cancellation request so it doesn’t mess with his reputation/reviews and when I go do that it is saying that I am too late for that. Is there any way I can do cancel my order without a return request? The item hasn’t been shipped yet.

The seller can choose the cancellation option: "Buyer asked to cancel." That won't either harm him or you.
