Mailing turquoise illegal?

The USPS is telling me that it is illegal to send turquoise through the mail. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Mailing turquoise illegal?

I've seen lots of resellers mentioned sending turquoise jewelry through the mail.  Who said you can't sent turquoise?  I would use a BOX so the stone(s) don't get damaged.  Are you trying to send the item internationally?  Some countries might not want that imported, for whatever reason.

Re: Mailing turquoise illegal?

No. The turquoise was being mailed to me in the USA. It is the USPS that says it is prohibited to import turquoise ( and maybe all semi precious stones) into the USA through the mail. Many people do this every day and I haven't heard of anyone else being affected by this. I've gotten no help from either the USPS, U.S. Customs  or ebay. Once I get my money back, I'll drop ebay like a hot potatoe!
