Longer Shipping Times

Unfortunately, a package I sold has been at one location since Oct. 1. No updated tracking since then. I have no issue refunding the buyer, but have a few questions. I know it has been taking longer to get packages through USPS due to Covid. What has been Sellers approach to this? What happens if I refund the buyer and the Package eventually is delivered?

@spyfytiffy   The first thing I'd do is file a missing package search and let the buyer know what's going on.  Thank them for their patience and assure them that they will their item or a refund

 

At this point since it's so late I'd just skip straight to the missing package search.

These are the options if you have to refund the buyer and the item finally arrives.

 

There is no way within eBay to handle this. I hope you have an honest buyer as eBay can not force the buyer to pay you back.

 

I would contact the buyer and say I see that your X finally arrived, I hope you are enjoying it. I would offer a small discount to encourage them to pay you back since part of your money is better than none.


#1 You will need to ask the buyer for their email address to send them a PayPal invoice

#2 You can share your PayPal email and they can send the money as friends and family

#3 They can snail mail you a check

#4 If they no longer want the item and have not opened it they can mark it as refused return to sender.

#5 You can send the buyer a return shipping label in eBay messages as a JPEG. This is risky unless you know the buyer will return the item because the label will be non refundable. You can buy a shipping label on Paypal at the commercial base rate. www.paypal.com/shipnow

I actually already did a search request and their local PO in TN called to say they didnt have it, so the case was closed! Tracking shows it never left the sorting facility in TN. So I am going to file a missing package case now. Thanks for all the info!
